Dear Martin,

You were an extraordinary person. Sensitive, courageous and facing life, which is complex and resistant, with a wonderful, uncomplicated naturalness. There are people who make others feel more comfortable just by being there. They have a warm, embracing sense of humour and faces that seem made for beautiful smiles. You were such a person. If you could hear me writing this, you would immediately contradict me. You would lower your gaze and head with a quiet smile. I can see it. And then you would look up, mischievously over the rim of your glasses, which you would push higher up your nose towards your forehead. You would look at me.

With you, we have lost a friend and colleague who changed the way we look at what we do and how we do it, and thus how we are.
We miss you. We will miss your music. And we already miss your willingness and curiosity to break new ground together. We mourn you and the stories we will never have shared.
I can see you in front of me, as always, with your hair blowing in the wind, speeding past me on the opposite side of Venloer Straße in Ehrenfeld. A goal in mind. See you then.

You are somewhere else now, and what remains of you is here.
