Access Maker: Inclusive approaches to the theatre – final event
Date: 05.03.2024, 12:30 am – 3 pm
Venue: Junges Schauspiel, Münsterstraße 446, 40470 Duesseldorf
The COMEDIA Theatre Köln, Theater Dortmund and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus provide an insight into the three-year model project. Initiated and accompanied for three years by Un-Label.
What does it mean to consistently and creatively set out to become more accessible to people with disabilities as a theater? After a welcoming address by Gonca Türkeli-Dehnert, State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, artistic directors, staff and consultants from the three theaters will share their experiences of this inclusive opening journey. Talks, presentations, films and practical examples will focus on access for visitors with disabilities, new aesthetics in productions, accessibility of the theaters for artists and employees with disabilities. Ultimately, in discussions with representatives from the funding and cultural policy side, the question is: How can the transformation to an inclusive cultural landscape in Germany succeed?
You are also very welcome to attend a performance of the dance and theater spectacle by Takao Baba Time to Shine before the closing event, which is equally accessible to hearing, hard of hearing and deaf visitors. It starts at 11 am.
