Feasibility study for an accessible cultural platform

There is currently no digital service that provides barrier-free information on accessible cultural offerings nationwide in the areas of theatre, museums, cinema, music, dance, festivals, readings, etc.. We want to find out whether it is possible to change this!

An app in which I can set everything for myself so that I can do everything – that would be fantastic!

Project duration: April 2023 – June 2024

Do you want to know when the next theatre play with sign language interpretation is coming to your area? Is the concert hall in your town accessible? Which films are being shown with audio description at the cinema this week? Oh yes, I want to visit friends in Frankfurt in autumn, is there anything on with easy language that might interest us? We are working on collating answers to these questions.

There is currently no digital service that provides barrier-free information on accessible cultural offerings nationwide in the areas of theatre, museums, cinema, music, dance, festivals, readings, etc.. We want to find out whether it is possible to change this!

To this end, we are working intensively with our cooperation partners on a feasibility study that aims to find content-related and technical solutions and develop prototypes and financing models derived from them. All ideas, approaches and concepts are based on the needs and expertise of experts with different perspectives on disability. Together with colleagues without disabilities, they develop the concepts both as experts in their own right and through their respective expertise in cultural, technical, economic and political contexts.

What could such a digital offering look like? Could it be a platform? A website? Plug-ins? An app? An interface? A mixture of these? How can something like this be made accessible for all disability perspectives? How can we get the German cultural scene to participate? How can this be sustainably financed? Are politicians interested? And most importantly: What needs and demands do people with disabilities have as cultural users of such a service?

To find out more about your needs for an accessible cultural platform, we have organised a accessible questionnaire developed on the topic.

We will keep you up to date!
